What can outsourcing do for you?

Outsourcing is all the rage in the corporate world today, but did you know you can outsource many jobs in the small business world as well? The most valuable thing in a small business owner's life is her time. Just think what you could do with your business if you could spend 2 more hours per day (that's over 500 hours per year!) on building your business rather than simply operating it. Outsourcing your mundane or highly technical activities can free you to do just that!

What is Outsource Compendium?

So...how do you outsource?

It's much easier to outsource tasks or projects than you probably think. There are many websites that bring freelance and contract workers together in one place so you can get many of them bidding on your work. You don't have to contact them all individually and get bids. For example, let's imagine you want to build a web site for your business but you don't really know how. You could go out to www.elance.com, www.rentacoder.com, www.designoutpost.com, or www.guru.com and post your requirements. Then professional web designers from all over the world would see your post and reply with what it would cost you to have them make your site for you. You get to review these bids, choose the one that fits your budget and schedule and then contract them to complete the site. Now you can focus on growing your business through other means rather than spending hundreds of hours trying to learn how to design a web site.

How can outsourcing grow your business?

Not only will it free you to do other things, you can actually use outsourcing to grow into new business areas. For example, you can hire someone to translate your web site or marketing materials into another language and enter a whole new market. You could also outsource all of your telephone follow up and customer contact to a call center that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can outsource your copywriting or research as well. Imagine having someone present you a thoroughly researched evaluation of a potential market rather than having to do all the research yourself...how much time would that save?
